Ram Temple, Fatehgarh, Odisha

Many people in Odisha still are not aware of this beautiful and majestic temple in Fatehgarh, which is about 60 kms from Bhubaneswar. It was inaugurated on the same say on which Ayodhya Prana Partishta was performed, i.e, 22nd January, 2024. Once you reach the hill-top, you can enjoy the beautiful and lush greenery all around. You can enjoy the amazing view of the Mahanadi river.

The hill on which the temple is, is not very high. However, there are around 3-4 steep curves that you will need to navigate. It might be a little difficult during the rains, or if you are a new driver, for both 2 wheelers and cars. Although it is not generally very crowded, do check whether there are any special functions or ceremonies during the day of your visit. The approach road to the hills and the roads through the mountains are narrow when we last visited in August 2024.

On the hill-top, there is ample parking space and some snacks shops (serving food without onion and garlic). After visiting the temple, you can also opt for having Mahaprasad, by paying a nominal fee. A small temporary enclosure was being used as the common dining hall. You have to sit on the ground and have your meal. Expect waiting time of about 30 minutes. Mahaprasad Sevan starts after 12:30pm everyday.

While returning, right after getting down the hills, we wanted to try some Chenna Poda. Came to know that Nayagarh is famous for its delicious Chenna Poda.

Best time to visit would be during the winters. Summers get quite hot on the hill-top. The floors around temple premises become quite hot during the day. It might be a concern if you are being accompanied by small kids.
